Today, I’m sharing a beautiful English wedding at Château de Maumont featuring two superb grooms, Emmet and Thomas. We hit it off immediately during our video calls, and hearing their story and plans made me realize this destination wedding in France was going to be magical—and it truly was!
Discovering Château de Maumont near Angoulême
On this beautiful Saturday morning near Angoulême, I discovered Château de Maumont for the first time: its stunning facade, the gorgeous grounds, and the perfect locations for each part of the day.
The dinner was planned outside, and the ceremony took place beneath a majestic tree just past the bamboos. It was a wonderful choice to stay in the shade, as it was a brilliantly warm and sunny June day in France!
Getting Ready & A Emotional First Look
I finally met the grooms as well as their « grooms crew, » who played such an important role in organizing everything. Between setting things up and staying refreshed, they even carved out some time for a pool party at the chateau. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to join them in the water—work first!
As they finished getting ready, Emmet received a handwritten letter from Thomas, and Thomas received a custom banner featuring lyrics from a song they love. Both of them shed a few tears, which was incredibly moving to see and photograph.
The First Look & Couple Portraits
We organized a first look on the first floor of Château de Maumont, and it was a magical moment! Afterward, we took some couple portraits around the venue. Working with these two lovers was incredibly easy: they are so natural in front of the camera, effortlessly moving from intense, shared looks to laughing together.
An Emotional Outdoor Wedding at Château de Maumont Ceremony
The 67 English guests took their seats under the tree for the outdoor ceremony, accompanied by the music of Thomas’ brother, Jack, who is incredibly talented with both his guitar and his voice. One of their close friends from the grooms crew officiated, creating a ceremony filled with moving speeches, shared memories, and a beautiful bonding ritual. There was so much love and emotion in the air!
Cocktail Reception by Le Vieux Logis Traiteur
The cocktail reception took place right in front of the Château, filled with Jack’s acoustic songs, refreshing drinks, and delicious food catered by Le Vieux Logis Traiteur. We had a brief 10-minute summer shower, but we lucked out as the main storm passed right around us! It brought a refreshing breeze to the summer warmth, and the outdoor tables dried quickly well before dinner.
Al Fresco Dinner & Drone Photography under the Stars
The dinner kicked off with a fun, high-energy entrance and, as is tradition, some wonderful speeches. Emmet’s dad, Thomas’ mother, and then the newlyweds themselves all spoke. I have to say, English speakers truly know how to deliver incredible wedding speeches—they were both hilarious and deeply touching!
Dining al fresco beneath the bistro lights was spectacular, both from the ground and from the air (I had a lot of fun capturing drone photography of the setup). The sunset light was simply breathtaking, allowing us to slip away for two brief couple sessions with the stunning grooms.
Needless to say, the grooms and their guests certainly knew how to dance! It was a blast to photograph, and DJ Florian from SelectID knew exactly how to keep the dance floor packed.
For our final shots of the night, we stepped outside to play with the chateau’s beautiful architecture and lighting… What an unforgettable day it was, a magic wedding at Château de Maumont.
Un Mariage au Château de Maumont
Aujourd’hui, je vous emmène près d’Angoulême pour le mariage d’Emmet et Thomas. Dès nos premiers échanges, j’ai su que cette journée au Château de Maumont serait inoubliable, et l’ambiance chaleureuse de ce mois de juin m’a donné raison.
Après des préparatifs riches en émotions — marqués par des larmes partagées lors de l’échange de mots doux —, les mariés se sont découverts lors d’un first look intimiste au premier étage du château. La cérémonie laïque s’est ensuite déroulée en extérieur, à l’ombre d’un grand arbre, portée par la musique en live du frère de Thomas et les discours touchants de leurs 67 invités venus d’Angleterre.
Le cocktail, orchestré par le traiteur Le Vieux Logis, s’est tenu sur le parvis du domaine, juste avant qu’une courte pluie d’été ne vienne rafraîchir l’atmosphère. Place ensuite à un superbe dîner en plein air sous les guirlandes guinguettes, que j’ai adoré immortaliser au drone, sublimé par une magnifique lumière de coucher de soleil. La soirée s’est terminée en beauté sur une piste de danse endiablée animée par le DJ Florian (SelectID), avant quelques derniers clichés nocturnes jouant avec l’architecture illuminée du château. Une journée parfaite !
